Complete Permission Audit: What SoundPlus Uses (and Doesn't)
Under Android's security architecture, every permission an app requests must be explicitly declared in its manifest. Here is the exact audit of SoundPlus:
| Android Permission | Status in SoundPlus | Technical Justification |
|---|---|---|
INTERNET |
Granted | Required to stream audio packets from media servers. |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE |
Granted | Enables Android to keep audio playing when you lock your screen. |
WAKE_LOCK |
Granted | Prevents the CPU from sleeping mid-song during display timeout. |
| Contacts & Address Book | NEVER REQUESTED | SoundPlus has zero access to your contacts or communications. |
| Camera & Microphone | NEVER REQUESTED | SoundPlus does not record audio or capture images. |
| GPS & Precise Location | NEVER REQUESTED | SoundPlus does not track your physical location. |
| Photos & Local Storage Scraping | NEVER REQUESTED | SoundPlus does not inspect or read private personal files. |
Why Is SoundPlus Distributed as an APK Instead of Google Play?
Many users ask why SoundPlus is distributed directly as an APK download rather than on the Google Play Store:
1. Bypassing Google's Background Play Restrictions
Google Play developer policies strictly prohibit apps from streaming YouTube audio in the background or with the screen off to protect Google's paid YouTube Premium subscription model.
2. Independent & Ad-Free Model
Distributing directly gives us the freedom to maintain zero mid-song audio ads, zero forced account registrations, and pure audio streaming without third-party platform cuts.
